North Africa and the Middle East are Experiencing Major Music Industry Growth Per New Report

The Middle East and North Africa are the fastest-growing music markets according to a new report published by The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Specifically, their Global Music Report 2025 denoted that revenue throughout both regions increased by a combined 22.8% in 2024. 

“There are several factors at play, mainly related to streaming. Subscription streaming – particularly paid accounts – has increased, along with ad-supported audio streaming in the region,” IFPI regional director Rawan Dabbas told The National. “When you combine that with consistently strong releases from talented and popular artists, it explains the growth we’re seeing.”

From an industry perspective, the International Music Summit hosted its debut edition in Dubai last year, gathering experts from all throughout the region. Managing Editor of Billboard Arabia, Maha Einabawi, Saudi Arabian artist, Cosmicat, Founder and Creative Director of Morocco’s Oasis Festival, Marjana Jaidi, and numerous other major players convened at the W Hotel in Dubai to discuss how the MENA region is shifting global dance music for the better.

As dance music culture becomes more and more international, Beatport is opening doors to other regions as well, most recently seen via the launch of Beatport Mexico. Beginning this month, Beatport is hosting more specific content geared towards the Mexican audience in addition to restructuring prices for local currencies. 

Plus, the first Beatport Connect: Mexico City took place on March 21, gathering professionals from all facets of the industry to participate in panel discussions and hands-on workshops while also enjoying DJ sets from Mexican artists like Jessica Audiffred and Beatport Next 2025 artist Dj Fucci.
