After seven years of silence on the studio album front, Above & Beyond is ready to fill the space with noise.

The beloved electronic trio announced its fifth LP, Bigger Than All Of Us, on March 19. Their awaited answer to 2018’s Common Ground is led by “Quicksand (Don’t Go),” which fittingly features longtime collaborator Zoë Johnston and premiered during the band’s sold-out global Group Therapy 600 broadcast in Mexico last October. The single will land on March 21 as the first of a flurry of singles culminating in the album’s release via Anjunabeats on July 18.

“It's classic Zoë Johnston,” says Above & Beyond. “We've been working with her for 22 years, so she's a part of the band. By that token, a song with her vocals is a very reassuring thing for our audience. It says: Above & Beyond are back, in a very recognizable form.”

Conceptually, the album celebrates and embodies the spirit of connection, a motif especially relevant to Above & Beyond this year, with 2025 marking the 25th anniversary of their Anjunadeep label.

“This album is us appreciating how amazing this thing we have is. The realization of how lucky we are that we get to be part of something like this for 25 years, and to have built a community that cares for each other in the way it does. It’s not about any of us individually. When we all work together to make something happen, something bigger happens,” they explained in a press release.

The seven years that followed the revelation of Common Ground, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, have been rife with Jono GrantPaavo Siljamäki, and Tony McGuinness’ collective and solo efforts alike. Highlights involving the whole band include 2019’s ambient album Flow State, instrumentals through their Tranquility Base series, and a handful of radio records, including “See The End,” “Over Now” — counted among Beatportal’s tally of The 50 Best Tracks of 2023 — and “Crazy Love,” which also featured Johnston.

In the meantime, Grant, Siljamäki, and McGuinness expanded their creative horizons through their involvement in endeavors beyond Above & Beyond. Grant, for example, collaborated with his friend Darren Tate under their shared JODA moniker on the 2022 LP of the same name, and Siljamäki awakened his P.O.S. side project, yielding the 2023 LP, Deeper Tales. Meanwhile, last year, McGuinness saw his album, Salt, to fruition.

These enriching and liberating creative expeditions will undoubtedly augment their artistry, as will be apparent not only on Bigger Than All Of Us but also through their supporting tour. Above & Beyond’s tour date at London’s famed Brixton Academy has already been announced, with registration for pre-sale access now open here
