Liverpool Criminal Court is helping to train the next generation of producers and DJs. Thanks to a program called Operation Payback that sends seized funds to local charities, the March recipient, Valley Community Theatre, will host free DJing and production workshops.

The workshops are a part of the theatre's larger Outrage project which is aimed at encouraging Liverpool youth to explore “entrepreneurship, education and future employment alongside musicianship.”

These sessions will begin this coming May, and they will allow participants to practice transitions on real DJ decks and also mix tracks in professional recording studios.

"The project will give local young people their first step to a fresh start, providing specialised resources and support to help them change their future and prospects for the better. We know this project will be a success as we have offered it before, with many real-life sliding doors moments," Martin Ball, director of Valley Community Theatre said to the Liverpool Echo of the incoming funds.

The Liverpool area has a long history of training revered musicians. The most notable is, of course, The Beatles, but prominent dance music artists hail from the region as well. James Hype, Adam F, and HAYLA all started their careers in the area.
