The Brooklyn Mirage will reopen this coming May with new features and enhanced safety protocols. Already a bastion for top-tier production, the venue will now flaunt a 270-degree LED visual presentation with 30K resolution, 100 million pixels, and over 3,000 tiles.
This upgrade also includes a shuttering system, allowing the screen to be completely hidden should the artist performing prefer to deliver a more music-forward experience that alludes back to earlier iterations of the space
The venue has also confirmed a number of safety upgrades within the grounds and surrounding area following multiple tragic occurrences in 2023.
27-year-old Karl Clemente went missing after attending the Brooklyn Mirage on June 11, 2023. He was found dead in nearby Newton Creek a few days later. A similarly unfortunate incident occurred a few weeks later when 27-year-old John Castic was found dead in Newton Creek on August 1 after being last seen leaving the venue on July 29.
Despite the police ruling both deaths as drowning (New York Times), the Brooklyn Mirage has added new lighting, signage, rideshare drop-off zones, and improved cell service. They have also increased personnel including more private security and first responders.
“The Brooklyn Mirage has always been a place to dance, to lose oneself in moments of pure, electrifying energy. It’s a space where people, community, and culture converge to create unforgettable memories,” Josh Wyatt, CEO of Avant Gardner said in a press release. “When we decided to rebuild the venue from the ground up, we aimed to honor its legacy while expanding the dance floor, creating immersive side-quest spaces, and pushing the boundaries of music, art, and technology. This is not just an upgrade -- it’s a rebirth. The New Mirage will be everything fans worldwide love about this space—while delivering a completely new, mind-blowing sensory experience. New York City deserves a venue that evolves with the culture, and that’s exactly what we’re creating.”
Sara Landry, Cloonee, Peggy Gou, and many more are set to host events during the 2025 season of The Brooklyn Mirage. Check out Carl Cox spinning at the venue back in 2021 as a part of Beatport Live.
