Thom Yorke and Mark Pritchard have confirmed their debut collaborative album, Tall Tales. The record is coming out May 9 via Warp Records

Alongside the album information, the duo have shared the second single from the record: “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice.” Where the first single, “Back In The Game,” was more foreboding and alternative, this track is groovy and percussive, seeing Yorke employ his iconic falsetto over serene layers.

In an Instagram post announcing the album, Yorke shared some backstory: “Mark sent me a large file of Mp3s of ideas during lockdown. There were so many great ones I knew straight away that i had to drop what i was doing. It felt very much that i had not been anywhere like this before both as soon as i put my headphones on and started trying to find the vocals, words and sounds, but also, as it progressed, watching Jonathan respond so freely and spontaneously with all his video and artwork ideas. It was mental, and i feel lucky to have been involved. I am looking forward to this finally coming out, Tall Tales is very important to me.”

The “Jonathan” Yorke mentions is Jonathan Zawada, who is creating a “visual world” for the album encapsulating the album artwork and music videos. The video for “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice” is a single shot following different parcels on a shipping conveyor belt. For “Back In The Game,” a mass of disfigured mascots paraded down an empty street past a pile of burning trash.

Yorke and Pritchard have been collaborating for many years. They worked on “Beautiful People” from Pritchard's 2016 album Under The Sun. Pritchard also remixed “Not the News” from Yorke’s 2019 album, ANIMA.

“This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice” by Thom Yorke and Mark Pritchard is out now via Warp. Purchase it on Beatport.
