Hey Fred, Bryn, and Ras – congratulations on scoring your very first Beatport #1 with your remix of The Shapeshifters’ “Lola’s Theme!” How are you celebrating?

Honestly, this is massive. We’ve been customers at this store since we were teenagers flipping records, staring at that Top 10 chart with pure awe. Now we’ve got a number one ourselves. It’s surreal. Just feeling incredibly grateful to Defected and Glitterbox for giving us the opportunity to release this remix, which, judging by the reaction, has made a lot of people very happy. That’s the best part.

This house classic from 2004 has been an absolute staple of countless sets over the past twenty years. How did the three of you come to the decision to put your own very well-received twist on the tune? Did you have to jump through any hoops to convince Defected and The Shapeshifters to turn your coveted unofficial remix into a very official one?

Total madness. Brynjar and Rasmus randomly listened to the track on the same summer day last year - independently. Of course, we already knew it, but it just hit differently that day. Brynjar went to pick up Rasmus, and guess what was playing in the car? It had to be fate. We hit the studio and spent the entire night on it. The rest is history.

Getting it officially released, though? Not exactly a walk in the park. We were a little cocky and put it up on SoundCloud for free download. Thought the people should have it, you know? Defected came knocking, and let’s just say The Shapeshifters probably didn’t love us for it. But once so many big DJs started playing it, the momentum was undeniable. Huge shoutout to our management and the Defected/Glitterbox teams for making it happen. We’re beyond grateful.

What was your approach in the studio when putting this remix together?

We took the best parts of the original, ran them through the Tripolism machine, threw in some of our signature boy choir vocals, and slowed it down just enough to make it hit right on the dance floor. Mission accomplished!

The three of you are coming off of a massive year – releasing your debut album Absolute Dope, touring around the world, and much more. What would you say was one of your biggest highlights of 2024?

We actually sat down at our Christmas party and looked back at all the gigs we played in 2024. It’s just been one dream spot after another. Can’t name just one – we’re just so grateful to every venue and festival that booked us, and to every crowd that showed up, whether it was in Copenhagen, Ibiza, or Mexico.

How are you feeling about and preparing for your Coachella debut this year?

Coachella is legendary. It’s where history gets made. We grew up looking at that festival, thinking about Daft Punk in 2006, watching them push boundaries with their bookings and set the tone for what’s next. For us, just getting booked is a huge catalyst. It’s opened the door to our first U.S. tour and so many exciting opportunities. We’re putting a lot of thought into this set – working on special edits, curating a release plan leading up to it. We’re making this one count.

In addition to getting your latest single with Nandu, “Sunrise,” what other music do you have in the works? Anything you can tell us about?

We’ve got some serious heat coming up with Avangart Tabldot – a couple of tracks we have very high hopes for. One will drop on our label, Ultra, and the other on their killer imprint, Crib Records. Expectations are sky-high for these.

We’re also going to be dropping a single with the Danish club queen herself, Ida Corr. It’s an old-school, house-driven club banger that’s definitely going to light up dance floors worldwide.

2025 is looking absolutely insane, and we can’t wait for all the madness ahead!
