Francis Mercier, Ginton, MoBlack, and Rindss have combined their immense talent on a new single, “Solfa.” This easygoing Afro House tune is out now on Cercle Records. Afro House is becoming globally recognized, and Francis Mercier, Ginton, and MoBlack are three artists who are emerging with their own individual take on the ascending genre.
Mercier imbues the sounds of his Haitian heritage into more hard-hitting club beats. Ginton utilizes his conservatory training on jazz guitar as a vehicle for creative rhythms over a four-on-the-floor kick. MoBlack has developed an intimate understanding of the style after spending over a decade in Ghana, which he expands further through his leadership of MoBlack Records, one of the foremost Afro House labels in the world.
Together these three unique voices deliver a track that is pure in its authenticity to its source but also fit for modern dancefloors. Ginton’s guitar picking is an ever-present decoration throughout. Subtle supportive percussion demonstrates MoBlack’s cultural expertise in African music, and the club-ready arrangement emphasizes Mercier’s unmatched intuition as a DJ.
The final piece of the puzzle is the cheerful vocals of the Nigerian native, Rindss. She sings in the style that is unmistakable to her homeland, but shares some English lyrics as well. Like a guide for international listeners looking to further their interest in Afro House.
