Avalon Emerson has released a new single entitled “Don’t Be Seen With Me.” This cut is a cover of the synth-pop band Oppenheimer Analysis, the first in Emerson’s new Perpetual Emotion Machine series, and her first signing to Dead Oceans, which is known for its indie artists including Phoebe Bridgers, Japanese Breakfast, and Khruangbin.
Emerson ventured into more vocal territory with her debut album & the Charm, which she toured with a live band. However, “Don’t Be Seen With Me,” and the rest of the songs in the new series are intended for the dancefloor.
"These songs were created for my DJ sets," Emerson said in a press release. "Whether they’re entirely original, edits to recontextualize old favorites, instrumental, or feature me singing, they are all part of my perpetual emotion machine. And the machine steams on."
The track features Emerson singing the same smoky vocal part from the original merged with the type of hypnotic club beat she’s mastered throughout dozens of notable releases including “One More Fluorescent Rush” and “Eternal September.”
“Don't Be Seen With Me” from Avalon Emerson is out now on Dead Oceans. Buy it on Beatport.
