Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and the polymathic electronic artist Mark Pritchard have released a new collaboration: “Back in the Game.” Out now on Warp Records, this track continues the two artists’ reputation for experimentation by pairing pulsing, erratic synths with Dixieland sousaphone and Yorke’s legendary haunting vocals.
This new song comes with a music video that evokes the same chilling emotions through imagery that the song does through sound as colorful yet disfigured beings march down a street past a burning pyre of artwork.
Yorke and Pritchard have collaborated in the past on equally leftfield productions. One was a track entitled “Beautiful People” on Pritchard's 2016 album Under The Sun. Another is Pritchard’s remix of “Not the News” from Yorke’s 2019 album, ANIMA.
This single is Pritchard’s first original release since 2020 with his most recent being the alternative dance EP, MP Productions - EP1. The six-track release features the dark breaky cut, “One Way Mirror,” as well as the minimal techno track “J is for ____.”
Yorke has been active in his solo works, releasing his soundtrack to the film Confidenza and several albums with his band The Smile. There has been speculation that a Radiohead reunion is imminent, but Yorke has denied those claims.
