Take an Inside Look at Beatport’s Community Event With Black House Radio
The gathering was the debut event at Beatport’s new LA office to celebrate Black History Month.

To celebrate Black History Month, Beatport's Diversity + Parity Fund recipient Black House Radio hosted a community event at our new LA office. Despite heavy (much-needed) rain, over 100 people still came to listen to a panel discussing the historic and continuing influence of Black and queer culture in dance music around the world.
Michael Donte, founder of Black House Radio opened the evening with a few words before the London-born NTS radio and Public Records resident Chloëdees moderated the panel with prominent artists and event curators, Juliet Mendoza, Terrell Brooke, and NAYGOD. All three are creating spaces in Los Angeles where Black and queer culture thrives within dance music.
After the conversation wrapped up, the three panelists took to the decks, bringing the historic ethos of dance music to life in the moment.
Expect more Beatport events to come in Los Angeles, and for those based in the UK, the next Beatport community event is on Friday, 28 February at the National Gallery in London as a part of the Friday Lates series.
Two prime selectors of worldly dance music, NikNak and Gayance, will be on the decks for an early evening soiree to start the weekend on a high note. The event is free so come on by for some big grooves and good vibes.
