"Nterini 2.0" Is Coming!
Sparrow & Barbossa, the Swiss-Uruguayan duo known for their signature 'Caribbean House' sound, continue to make waves in afro house

Swiss and Uruguayan production pair Sparrow & Barbossa have become a conduit for global-minded music, shining a light on Latin American influences through a sound they have coined as 'Carribean House,' while establishing themselves as a chart-topping act in afro house. In 2020, they kicked up a storm with their remix of Malian singer/songwriter and guitarist Fatoumata Diawara's striking composition "Nterfini," which told the compelling story of a migrant and the heartache endured from being separated from her true love.
The duo is now teaming up with Mexico City's own Luch to give a new lease on life for the offering via "Nterini 2.0," revisiting the poetic vocals sung in her native West African dialect, adding onto the critically acclaimed backbone with vibrant tribal percussion, wistful piano motifs, airy atmospherics, jangling keys, and warm, atonal textures adding more emotional depth to the piece.
The remix has amassed 2.6M streams to date, with support from Mòo&Jo, Maz, Sofi Tukker, Bhaskar, Malóne—while the original drew praise from press outlets like NPR, COLORS, Afropop Worldwide, Paste Magazine. Luch has upcoming performances at EDC Mexico, DeepHouseBible at Giza Pyramids. Sparrow & Barbossa are on tour with dates at Coachella, Space Miami, Lula Club (Madrid), Xanadu (NYC), Night We Met (Nashville).
