Late last year, Thandi Draai delivered Africa Get Physical Vol. 5, an authentic mix of Afro-house sounds direct from the source. It was a superb selection from the tastemaking South African DJ, remixer, vocalist and producer and now two singles from it arrive as a new digital release.
Draai's own collaboration, 'The Clique' with Candy Man & Cuebur feat. DJ Clock & Kitty Amor goes first and is an atmospheric and exotic house sound. Bird calls, tropical motifs and tribal vocals all transport you to the heart of the African continent, with indigenous percussion and spine-tingling synths all wooing you into a trance.
Next is 'Izangoma' from Josi Chave & TorQue MuziQ Feat. Khokho Madlala, another all-African collaboration. This deep and enchanting number rides on rubbery drums and serene chords that warm the heart and awaken the soul. The native vocals bring great drama and emotion to this most cinematic of sounds.
