Norwegian Artists Tollef & CLMD ‘Shut It Down’ On Funky Collaboration
Shut It Down is the fourth release of the forthcoming Commence EP, dropping next month
"Shut It Down" is the fourth track in Norwegian producer Tollef's five-part Commence EP, which culminates with its final release on December 13, 2024. This groovy, funky house collaboration brings together the smooth production of Tollef, the multi-platinum expertise of CLMD, and the charismatic flow of Norwegian rap icon Pasha. Drawing influences from artists like Madeon and Lenno, the track features infectious guitar riffs, tropical rhythms, and vibrant vocals that promise to get listeners hooked.
Tollef: “Who would have thought that a simple reply to an Instagram story would result in one of the funkiest French house tracks you’ll hear? Well, that’s how CLMD and I connected. CLMD showed off a snippet of a track he was working on and asked his followers if they had any input. I reached out, and after a bit of back and forth, Shut It Down came to life. We also had Pasha on, who made the song stand out from the crowd with his awesome rap vocals. I couldn’t be more happy with how this one turned out.”
CLMD: “I wanted to create something inspired by the music style I love the most, French house. I’ve been learning different sampling techniques from how Daft Punk used tos sample on Homework. It was a really cool and fun way to work with music that i was not used to. I sent an early version to Tollef and he loved it and jumped on it with his slick guitars and modern approach to make the track what it ended up being. In the later stage, we sent it to my buddy Pasha who nailed the rap for it. All in all a very fun and organic process from start to finish.”
