Carlita Shares Highly-Anticipated Debut Album, ‘Sentimental’
The 12-track long player combines the Turkish-Italian musician’s vast array of sonic influences.

Cellist, pianist, bassist, drummer, guitarist, DJ, producer. Carlita is all of those things and her debut album, Sentimental, which is out now on Ninja Tune, represents that. Across its 12 tracks, the diverse artist showcases the full range of her skillset and packages it for the dance floor. Other than literal recordings of these different instruments, the music displays the type of sensibility one gathers not just from studying different types of genres, but from having an international upbringing.
Growing up in Türkiye to Turkish and Italian parents (her mom also spoke Portuguese), she was forever immersed in cultural melting pots. Türkiye exists as a middle ground between Europe and Asia. She is very familiar with both cultures. Then after studying marketing, computer science, and the music industry in college in Boston, she found herself in yet another cultural melting pot: New York City.
All of this exposure was the foundation for an immensely successful career. She’s played all over the world and hosted her Senza Fine parties during New York Fashion week. She also caught the eye of none other than DJ Tennis with whom she formed a collaborative project, Astra Club, through which she debuted, “Time” at Coachella.
“‘Time,’ one of my favorite songs I’ve made and one of the most special songs from the album,” Carlita told Beatportal in her Artist of the Month feature from March 2024.
“Time” was the first single from Sentimental, and it demonstrates her talent for bridging worlds. The soundscape underneath the pensive lyrics utilizes instrumentation that sounds organic but feels synthetic. “Planet Blue” leans more into her traditional musical approach, coasting on tight piano chords and joyous vocalizations from Cleo Simone. The final single, “Wait For You,” called upon dance music’s most in-demand singer, Elderbrook, to deliver his unique stylings over a refined melodic house beat. Listen below.
