Two Sublime Afro House Singles From Africa Get Physical Volume 5 Get A Standalone Release
Genre pioneer BlaQRhythm serves up an original while Bun Xapa contributes a remix of Thandi Draai & DJ Beekay.
A year on from the accomplished and authentic Africa Get Physical Volume 5 compilation compiled by South African house giant Thandi Draai, a pair of singles from welcome reissues. These semi-regular collections find Get Physical Music working closely with and platforming local talents on their way to international acclaim, and Thandi Draai was behind the last one.
BlaQRhythm is one such star, born and raised in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu Natal, and now known for his unique take on house after big collabs with Babes Wodumo, Mampintsha and Argento Dust. His cut 'Insimbi Yamabutho' is a bold Afro-house rhythm with tribal drums and traditional percussive sounds. They pepper the groove next to shakers, rousing synths and intoxicating vocals, and it all adds up to a powerful dance floor experience.
Andile Kato, aka Bun Xapa, is a producer from a township in the Free State called Thaba Nchu, Ratau, who blends African folk and gel sounds into his grooves. His expressive remix of Thandi Draai & DJ Beekay's 'Letha' is effortlessly uplifting and soul-cleansing. The magnificent vocal and pulsating drums and synths work the head and heart in an equally indelible fashion.
