Watch Rebekah and MeeToo Music's Short Film, 'When The Music Ends'
A film aimed at the clubbing community to showcase the ways abuse can happen on and around a dance floor, the consequences for survivors, and how we can help by intervening.
Techno phenomenon Rebekah and her dedicated music industry activism group, MeeToo Music, have produced a short film inspired by real stories from anonymous individuals, focusing on the experiences of three people from vulnerable groups within nightlife.
When The Music Ends shines a light on the challenges faced in nightlife and the lasting impact on survivors while encouraging viewers to take action against unwanted sexual behavior and microaggressions, especially towards marginalized communities. Watch it below.
TRIGGER WARNING - this film contains scenes of sexual violence and the use of alcohol and drugs.
The film is part of the #ForTheMusic campaign and is based on research from the Electronic Music Inclusion Initiative, which highlighted numerous incidents of abuse worldwide. Most reports came from the UK, Germany, and the US, primarily from women aged 26 to 35. Many individuals hesitate to report these incidents due to fears of disbelief or retaliation.
Back in July of 2023, Beatport teamed up with Rebekah and MeeToo Music to launch a soundtrack contest for When The Music Ends, asking producers from around the globe to submit their original tracks to be used in this essential and informative short film. Rebekah incorporated three of these submitted tracks into the film from the artists Giacomo Teker, Viberium, and first place went to Armenian DJ/producer SOPHIA SIGMA for her track "Machine Hearts," which you can listen to below.
A website has been set up in conjunction with the film, which will be regularly updated with details about panels, discussions, and fundraising activities for 2025.
