SWEAT IT OUT is a DANCE music label. I mean sure, we've released lots of music that is more dance music for the ears, than dance music for the feet - but that's just because we have eclectic taste and well, also, who's to say what makes one person dance anyways. I've seen heaps of people dance with no music at all.
So forget what I just said.
Having said that, our core is DANCE. It's what we love and it's what we do best.
The history of PAPI goes like this.
I was playing b2b with our beloved NICKY NIGHT TIME when he started looping this vocal.
"Boom boom papi, boom boom papi."
It instantly pricked my ears.
It sounded so instant. So catchy. So unique.
When he finally dropped it - I instantly responded.
"What the hell is this?"
He told me.
"It's a demo from NEZ. It's called PAPI. It has BIPOLAR SUNSHINE on it."
I was like...
"This is amazing. Can we sign it?"
He said...
"I think so. let me check."
I wrote to Nicky every day after that begging to be looped in with NEZ and his team.
When it happened, I told them how much I loved the record and how much we wanted it.
They agreed.
Honestly. Just listen to it.
It's exactly why we do this "job."
It's a record I know AJAX would have loved.
