Kevin Saunderson Welcomes Dantiez Into e-Dancer with New Single, “Melodica”
The techno pioneer is joining forces with his son to begin a new era of the historic e-Dancer project.

Kevin Saunderson’s techno legacy is multi-faceted. On the one hand, his productions and projects like Inner City and e-Dancer define the history of the genre. On the other, his son, Dantiez, has become a respected techno producer in his own right. Now, those two facets of the Saunderson legacy are coming together with the new e-Dancer track, “Melodica.”
Kevin and Dantiez produced this track together. However, rather than the single being a co-production, listing both Dantiez and e-Dancer in the official credit, it will live under the name e-Dancer only. This solidifies Dantiez as part of e-Dancer as the project continues on. Listen below.
"Dantiez sounds like me. Working on this next generation of e-Dancer with him, I'm more passionate and energetic than ever,” Kevin said in a press release. “This is about me, the pioneer, passing the torch to carry the legacy. I know it's in Dantiez's DNA. I know he’s ready."
"When people hear the new music, I hope they feel the elevation and the synergy between the original e-Dancer and the new iteration," Dantiez continued.
When techno music was first rumbling through ill-fitted walls during the late '80s in Detroit, Kevin Saunderson imbued his thumping beats with Motor City’s soulful reputation re Motown. By contrast, e-Dancer was more akin to the pure warehouse aesthetic. Dark, apparitional techno that evokes imagery in the mind and motion in the body. “Melodica” is an exact extension of the e-Dancer sound. Except, as the title suggests, it harbors a strong sense of melody, leaning into the inclinations of the modern dance scene where melodic techno is a titanic force.
e-Dancer's new single "Melodica" is out now via One House. Buy it on Beatport.
