Exclusive Interview: Marie Vaunt & Belocca Unite for a Techno Anthem
How Two Unique Styles Merged to Create an Electrifying Collaboration with Cinematic and Acid Grooves
In a recent exclusive interview with Beatportal, Marie Vaunt and Belocca shared insights into their collaborative track, “Lost In Rhythm.” The duo reflected on the initial inspiration behind the project, which was sparked when Belocca asked Marie to remix his 100th release, “Metamorphosis,” on Mainground Music. He noted how impressed he was with the energy she infused into the remix, stating, “I felt that if we would make something together, it would be massive too. So, I took the bull by the horns and asked her to make a track together and she said yes!”
Marie echoed this excitement, explaining that after witnessing the positive response to her remix, collaborating felt like a natural next step. “I’d already developed a deep appreciation for his sound, so when he suggested we work together, it was an immediate yes. We have such complementary styles that it felt like the right moment to merge our energies and see what we could create,” she shared.
As they worked on the track, the title “Lost In Rhythm” was proposed by Marie. Belocca immediately loved the suggestion, commenting, “The emotional part of the track, the vocals and strings make me EARgasm every time, unleashing a lot of positive energy. I believe songs can charge the soul, and that is what I like in this track.” Marie added her perspective on the title, noting that the phrase encapsulated the essence of losing oneself in the beat, letting go, and becoming one with the rhythm.
Reflecting on their production process, Belocca described it as smooth and efficient. “I created my parts and the possible build-up, and Marie inserted her ideas. We actually finished it really quickly. I wish I could make every track as quick as we did this one,” he shared. Marie noted the ease of collaboration despite working remotely. “Although we worked remotely, the process was smooth because we were both clear on the direction we wanted, and we’re both fans of each other’s work. Belocca’s original arrangement was solid to begin with, so reworking some of the core elements and adding others to give it a different energy was a breeze.”
Both artists believe “Lost In Rhythm” has the potential to become an anthem within the techno scene. Belocca highlighted the unique blend of elements, saying, “In this track, we have combined cinematic elements of the strings and vocal chants that are not that common in Techno, so we have the beauty in the vocals and strings and the beast in the grooves and acid. This one is also a bit faster than I normally do at 140 bpm. I hope the fans will feel it, like Oliver, Marie, and I do.” Marie pointed
Looking ahead, Belocca expressed hope that audiences would connect with the emotional core of the track, while Marie has already seen positive reactions during her sets. They aim for "Lost In Rhythm" to resonate with listeners from all walks of life, creating a universal feeling of immersion in music. As for their future plans, Belocca mentioned a label party in Budapest and upcoming performances at ADE and a festival in Mexico City, while Marie is excited for her first show in Hungary and other events across the globe. Together, they are set to make a significant impact on the electronic music scene with this collaboration.
