Bart Skils Teams Up with SUDO and Drunken Kong for Dynamic ‘Sakura’ EP
Drumcode veteran Bart Skils delivers powerful techno collaborations with Japanese talents SUDO and Drunken Kong, blending deep grooves and mesmerizing synths.
Drumcode Records heavyweight Bart Skils has just released two debut collaborations with Japanese techno producers SUDO and Drunken Kong on his new EP titled Sakura. A long-standing member of the Drumcode crew, the Dutch producer is best known for his chart-topping techno hits like Roll The Dice and his captivating live sets.
As a key figure on Adam Beyer’s renowned Drumcode label, Skils is not only a master of his own craft but also dedicated to supporting new talent. One example is SUDO, the Japanese brother duo (Isao & Takashi) who made waves with their Drumcode debut EP Real World. Now, Skils has teamed up with them for a high-energy track called Nexus. He also collaborates with Drunken Kong (Dee Singh & DJ Kyoko), the Tokyo-based techno duo and residents at WOMB, for the track Set It Right. Drunken Kong also made their Drumcode debut in 2023 with the successful I Want To See EP.
Talking about these new collaborations, Bart Skils shares his excitement:
"This year I wanted to focus on a few special collab tracks. Both Dee’s and Isao’s other releases I’ve been playing a lot in my sets, and it got me thinking a combination of our sounds could kickstart something big. Both tracks came out amazing. The one with Dee leans more into a phat building groove, and the Isao track gets the psychedelic rolling with some fantastic synth work. Very excited to get these out!"
The track Nexus with SUDO is an intense, fast-paced techno anthem that features melodic, spacey synth chords, creating a hypnotic atmosphere that climaxes with a massive drop. SUDO commented on the collaboration:
"We’ve respected Bart for a long time, so we were so excited to collaborate and release this special track. 'Nexus' is inspired by nostalgia but with modern and energetic essence."
Meanwhile, Set It Right with Drunken Kong offers a lighter but equally hard-hitting techno experience, characterized by an eerie vocal riff and foreboding synth chords that lead into yet another electrifying drop. On working with Bart Skils, Drunken Kong said:
"We have always loved Bart's music, so when the idea of a collaboration came, we were very excited. For 'Set It Right,' we focused on making a big groove while keeping things simple but effective. We are very happy with how the track came out!"
Bart Skils’ Sakura EP showcases his ability to push boundaries while blending his distinct sound with that of rising techno stars SUDO and Drunken Kong. Both collaborations, Nexus and Set It Right, are set to make waves across the global techno scene.
