‘First Daughter’ by Cybek: A Journey of Passion, Family, and Musical Evolution
Cybek’s debut album First Daughter is more than just a collection of tracks—it's a heartfelt tribute to his firstborn, Nova, who reignited his passion for music.
This album embodies the power of love, perseverance, and deep emotional connections that inspire creativity. "I wanted to prove to her that anything is possible in life," Cybek says, reflecting on the motivation behind this project.
The creative journey of ‘First Daughter’ is rooted in the growth of both the artist and the individual. After a five-year hiatus, Cybek returned to music with a renewed sense of purpose, waiting for the right moment to craft a track that would embody everything he had learned. The album's cornerstone was ‘Nova’. "From this track, I understood so much, both technically and emotionally, that it led me to create the entire album," Cybek explains. The album spans various subgenres of electronic music, from melodic house and techno to deep and progressive house, even enhanced with a touch of melodic acid techno.
Musical influences like Worakls' "Sanctis," NTO's "Invisible," and Nathan Fake's "The Sky Was Pink" (James Holden Remix) have shaped Cybek's sound, infusing his tracks with emotion and energy. "It was important to me that every track on the album could be played for dancing, while still evoking deep emotions," he says.
Creating First Daughter was challenging. As Cybek's family grew, he faced time constraints and lost studio space. Yet, these obstacles didn’t deter him. Instead, they fueled his determination. "I composed a large part of this album on my couch late at night, with headphones on," he recalls with a smile.
The album is also a personal message to Nova, with tracks like ‘For My’, ‘Little Cat’, and ‘Nova’ carrying special meanings for her to discover as she grows. Cybek’s pride in this project is evident, and he’s eager to share it with his fans. "This album represents me. I had so much fun making each of these tracks, and I invite listeners to tell me which track is their favourite."
