LA-based Record Label StrataSonic Takes Flight with Dan Ghenacia’s ‘Rouge ou Noir’ EP
The Parisian legend is back with his first release of the year on the new label.
StrataSonic is launching with a powerhouse team of international music veterans with deep roots in Los Angeles. Founder of BPM Festival, Craig Pettigrew, will lead as the label’s CEO, the Label Manager position will be spearheaded by DJ/producers Maher Daniel and Matt Tolfrey. Jesse Rogg — owner of the historic LA studio space Mack Sennett — will work with Matt Ossentjuk of Gari Safari as the Creative Director and Associate Creative Director, respectively.
The label opens up Rouge ou Noir — a beautifully constructed three-track EP from a kingpin of the Paris underground scene, Dan Ghenacia. Packed with rich textures, buoyant basslines, and crisp synth work, the EP is a marvelous filter-house and disco fusion that works overtime on the dance floor. Ghenacia used an abundance of house gear located at StrataSonic's Hollywood studio to put the final touches on the record and create some of its more distinguishing moments, including an EMS VCS 3 synthesizer, a Memorymoog, and a Wunder Super D Console. Listen below.
Each release on the label will be accompanied by a music video, and StrataSonic will also create bespoke merch lines alongside releases and host curated playlists by friends and family of the label.
"StrataSonic was born from a vision to empower artists with a platform for musical exploration," Jesse Rogg tells Beatportal. "We provide a creative environment where artists can experiment with new sounds and styles, free from the constraints of their traditional channels. StrataSonic is committed to supporting every facet of our artist's creative expression."
