James Hype Scores a Beatport Number 1 with his Propulsive Single, "7 Seconds (feat. Shamiya Battles)"

“7 Seconds” finds James Hype flexing his club muscle. The UK producer operates firmly within his tech house wheelhouse on the hyphy number, which brings the unmistakable bassline from Luniz’s 1995 single, “I Got 5 On It,” into the dance/electronic circuit. As proof of its reach and staying power, now, nearly 30 years later, “I Got 5 on It” still holds the No. 1 spot on Luniz’s Top Ten Tracks list on the Beatport Store. And now, James Hype's high-voltage remix of the tune has just topped Beatport's overall top-charting position and now sits as a Beatport #1 on the store!

The Oakland duo’s classic riff, Hype’s tempo shifts, and new lyrics with dulcet vocals to boot from South London singer-songwriter Shamiya Battles culminate in a very-replayable production that’s already set fans abuzz.
