AQUTIE Expands ‘Coolest In The City’ EP with Slinky Aluna Feature, "Ghostin"

Much like the title of the deluxe EP from which the track hails, AQUTIE and Aluna are in fact the “coolest in the city” on their ambrosial debut collaboration.

AQUTIE’s Coolest In The City EP is, in the Harlem-born DJ/producer’s own words, “an ode to NYC, to the club scene.”

Whereas the twofer’s “Big Bag Bounce” with Paulina Singer and “Crowd Control” channeled the unbridled live-for-the-weekend energy that can be felt across the city’s boroughs on a Friday night, “Ghostin” embodies the effortless cool of a sunny Saturday afternoon spent in the open air on one of New York’s rooftops. The single slinks onto the deluxe version of the soloist’s EP, where AQUTIE is in good company alongside Aluna, who lends her honeyed vocals to the rhythmic number. “Ghostin” marks the second time the Noir Fever Records founder has collaborated with one of the label’s signees since it launched in February. Listen below.

AQUTIE’s Coolest In The City extension adds to her growing tally of accolades this year as her reach — no surprise — continues to balloon. The African artist, who emerged as one of the brightest talents from Aluna’s Noir Fever camp, has notably been tapped as support for Dennis Ferrer, HoneyLuv, Keinemusik, and Coco & Breezy’s New York City tour stops. Along the way, she’s continued to bring her Brooklyn-based event series, Heat House, to venues in the area, including most recently SILO Brooklyn. The party, co-curated with Wemi, presents dance music across the African Diaspora in an effort to elevate the global resonance of African house music.

“Ghosting” is out now on Coolest In The City (Deluxe), via Noir Fever. Buy it on Beatport.
