Reinier Zonneveld Reworks Tiga & Zyntherius' Iconic “Sunglasses at Night”
The Dutch DJ/producer and Filth On Acid label head joins forces with the duo to bring back the 2001 classic.
“Sunglasses at Night” was originally released by Corey Hart in 1983, and it became an iconic hit of the '80s. In 2001, Tiga & Zyntherius gave their own electronic spin to the song, bringing it into the DJ world and reigniting the energy the track emits. Now, Filth on Acid boss Reinier Zonneveld and Tiga & Zyntherius worked together to bring the song into 2024, raising the BPM and adding Zonneveld’s energetic techno sound to the timeless hit.
Zonneveld has quickly gone from an underground artist to a well-recognized and acclaimed individual in the industry. In 2023, he jumped up 22 spots on the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, ending the year ranked at number 27. Zonneveld also launched his own music, Karren Maar Festival, in 2023, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest live set at 11 hours and 11 minutes.
In 2024, Zonneveld is looking to be the first DJ to complete another feat. On August 17th at Spaarnwoude in the Netherlands, Zonneveld will be the first artist to integrate his specially crafted AI live music project, R², into a live electronic music set. That’s right — he will be going b2b with AI, a collaboration between human and computer. Learn more about it and secure tickets here.
“This isn't just about playing music; it's about crafting an experience that transcends expectations. I’m super excited to have all these iconic stage hosts at my festival, where R² and I will lead you on a journey into uncharted sonic territory, redefining what's possible in live performances," Zonneveld said.
We’ll see how he integrates “Sunglasses at Night” into this never-before-seen performance. But for now, the track is available on all platforms. Listen below.
