The globe-trotting Canadian DJ/producer Jayda G treats us to a sprightly sun-baked banger with the arrival of her latest single, "Feeling Alive" — out now via Ninja Tune.
The invigorating track has been a staple of the artist's sets all season long, and it has been a highlight of her noteworthy performances at Glastonbury Festival, Tomorrowland, and Pacha in Ibiza this summer.
Co-produced by Karma Kid and Baz Kaye, the trio first breathed life into "Feeling Alive" during a recording session after Jayda told them a story about a positive and reflective moment she had at night while living in Los Angeles.
"We were just sitting in the studio working together, and I was very conscious of just wanting to focus on how good life can be, and how I really want my music to emulate that this time around," Jayda G recalls. "We talked a lot about different times in our lives when we were feeling really good and positive about life, and I started telling them this story from when I was living in LA, and I was driving down Sunset Boulevard late at night, seeing all the lights and everything going on, and how I just felt just really alive at that time. That's how we hit on that tagline of 'feeling alive' which helped form the sentiment of the whole track." Listen below.
The release follows up her powerful "If We Only Knew," the accompanying single to the artist's feature-length environmental documentary, Blue Carbon (watch the official trailer here).
