Cloonee:

"I’m stoked to be back on Black Book, one of my first homes, and to be remixing one of Chris Lake’s most legendary records. What started as an edit for my Coachella set, now 7 months in the making - excited to finally be releasing this one."

Alex Culross:

"My dad actually came up with the idea for 'Drum Tool' while we were sitting downstairs late one night, and an old rerun of ‘Top of The Pops’ came on TV. He suggested I take a delve into some tracks from the 70s, and gave me some names to look into. I started work on ‘Drum Tool' that night to try and bring his idea to life, and played him what I came up with the following day - effectively earning his seal of approval. When videos started pouring in of DJs like Ben Sterling, Cole Knight, Skream and of course Chris playing ‘Drum Tool’ to a packed crowd, I’d show every one of them to my dad. Seeing his smile reacting to a piece of music which stemmed from his own idea is priceless.

Banglaboy:

"The creation of my track started with the opening tabla, which has a melody that intrigued me. The whole track was built around the inspiration that sound gave me - I immersed myself in Hindi films from the 80s and 90s, and went through the rabbit hole of understanding the musical elements from the films, and how they were making me feel. Watching from a different lens, it all went back to the emotion. That felt universal and didn’t feel as foreign the more I dove into the rabbit hole. "

Trallez:

"I was heavily into reggaeton when I created 'All Night.' I wanted to convey a happy vibe with percussions, and I feel I achieved that. Being part of this compilation makes me feel like a superhero - the experiences with this label are sublime."

Pedroz:

"The inspiration for 'Brazilero' came early one morning when I was in my hometown at my mom's house, without a studio, just with my laptop, headphones, and nothing to do. I started by creating a club beat and added the synths to the track, spending hours searching for the perfect vocal. Once I found the right vocal I sent it off to Abbud, and together we made it into the track it is now.

Less than 24 hours after we finished the track, Chris Lake played it live, and the Black Book team asked me to hold the track for them. This had never happened to me before, and was a really special moment for me. Months later Michael Bibi returned from his long career break due to sickness, and he played the track at his “One Life” show in a palace in Spain - another surreal moment."

Abbud:

I knew I believed in this track from the moment Pedroz sent it to me. Being part of this compilation is really special to me, especially since Chris Lake was one of the first artists in the scene that I admired. It’s always surreal seeing people I admire playing my songs, and this track is no exception - watching Chris, Cloonee, Michael Bibi among others play it, nothing compares."

Coffintexts:

"I took a little break from making beats, to go out and gain some inspiration. After the break I felt a bit discouraged instead, didn’t think I could make anything good. One random morning, I sat down, got into a groove again, and came out with this one. I freaked out lol. It’s one of my favorite tracks by far. Obsessed with that synth, so dreamy.
