Since the launch of Beatport Hype, thousands of labels have had increased success on Beatport, and we have been working hard to grow Hype to include even more genres. We are excited to announce that Beatport Hype now includes Afro House in its growing list of eligible genres.

The sound encompasses African-inspired rhythms, polyrhythmic drums, and organic instruments, all of which make the Afro House scene popular around the globe. Leading this sound are artists such as Black Coffee, Shimza, Desiree, Culoe de Song, Djeff, Da Capo, and German producer &ME, as well as rising stars Maz (BR), Awen, Bun Xapa, Charisse C, and Darque.

As one of the fastest-growing sounds in the global electronic music scene, Afro House is currently vying for a top-five position among Beatport's most popular genres — making it the fastest-growing genre on our platform. Since its official inclusion on Beatport in 2017, a multitude of labels have been releasing and elevating this invigorating sound, earning chart-topping positions and dance floor recognition on a global scale.

With the inclusion of Afro House in Hype, labels specializing in this genre can now enjoy many new features. These include the chance for increased revenue and exposure, as well as more opportunities to secure top chart positions on both the Hype charts and the main Beatport charts.

Here is the current list of Hype eligible genres:

  • Afro House
  • Dance / Electro Pop
  • Deep House
  • Drum & Bass
  • Electronica
  • House
  • Indie Dance
  • Mainstage
  • Melodic House / Techno
  • Minimal / Deep Tech
  • Organic House / Downtempo
  • Progressive House
  • Techno (Peak Time / Driving)
  • Tech House
  • Trance (Main Floor)

For current Hype subscribers that have new releases categorised as Afro House, you don't have to do anything! Releases will automatically go to the Afro House curators and be eligible for features on both the Homepage and Genre Page Hype picks section. The additional exposure opportunities you get can help you enter the Hype Charts and the main chart too!
