Amsterdam-based duo Black Girl / White Girl will release the two-track Extravaganzza EP on he globally-renowned, queer-run lifestyle brand, events company, and music label, HE.SHE.THEY.
Charmed by Black Girl / White Girl’s “knack for crafting craggy acid and jackin’ techno,” the duo’s first EP of the year is already picking up support from the likes of Ben Sims, Truncate, Anja Schneider, Danny Howard, Violet, Alan Fitzpatrick, and more.
Extravaganza follows a flurry of strong releases from the pair in 2020, landing on imprints like Jerome Hill’s Super Rhythm Trax, Skream’s Of Unsound Mind, and Eats Everything’s EI8HT. With this latest effort, Black Girl / White Girl continue their forceful run towards international stardom with two stripped-back and lively techno drivers — “Baby’s First Rave” and “Extravaganzza.” Check out the tracks below.
“So imagine like, two mad scientists in a lab plotting and scheming, brewing up weird concoctions, inadvertently creating some real supernatural shit that kinda freaks you out but also, you really love it? That has been us lately,” Black Girl / White Girl tells Beatport.
“The fact that the brain works in mysterious ways is such a gift when it comes to music production, so we constantly strive to take advantage of that. Fundamentally, techno feels like an explorative genre, so it is the best framework for experimentation as there is plenty of room for us to indulge ourselves, deviate from the norm, and pursue more unconventional concepts and techniques. If you are encountering our music for the first time today, then Extravaganzza is the perfect introduction to our world and our aesthetic.”
