Dutch Promoters and DJs Urge Fans to join UnMute Protest Against Latest Covid Restrictions
Joris Voorn and other DJs are urging supporters to join the UnMute protest.
A protest against the Dutch government’s current lockdown measures called UnMute is planned for tomorrow.
Dutch DJs like Joris Voorn have taken to social media to urge fans to join the protest, saying, “it is definitely possible to open festivals in a safe way.”
As it stands, the Dutch government has allowed many different sectors of the economy to reopen, though clubs remain closed and festivals are cancelled until at least November. The government has also said it will end financial support to these events.
Amsterdam Dance Event also spoke out against the measures in a Facebook post.
“The Dutch government has decided to leave festivals, clubs and nightlife without perspective yet again — a disastrous decision for the backbone of ADE and the electronic music industry as a whole,” ADE stated.
“Without a clear vision on nightlife and its culture, there is still no hope on the horizon for countless clubs, artists and electronic music enthusiasts.
This Saturday, the festival industry and music lovers will hit the streets of Amsterdam to speak out against the political decisions of our government and to demand a re-opening of festivals from early September on out.”
