For his first official release in two years, electronic music powerhouse Skrillex has teamed up with Four Tet and American singer-songwriter Starrah for the new single, “Butterflies” on OWSLA.

Skrillex and Four Tet first crossed paths in 2015 when they performed a surprise back-to-back set for a stunned crowd in London. They have since jumped on the decks together a handful of times, and Four Tet delivered a stunning remix of Skrillex, Boys Noize, and Ty Dolla $ign’s hit track “Midnight Hour” back in 2019, but “Butterflies” marks the first time the pair has collaborated on a track.

In uniting with both Four Tet and the chart-dominating R&B sensation Starrah on vocals, the track highlights “Skrillex’s penchant for collaboration and curation” along with his ability to introduce new musically underground dance music fortitudes into the realm of mainstream pop appeal.

Compelling and nuanced to its core, “Butterflies” defies all boundaries and is sure to land some of the same winged creatures in your stomach.

Skrillex, Four Tet, and Starrah’s “Butterflies” is out now via OWSLA. Buy the “Extended Mix” exclusively on Beatport.
