Stuttgart native Johannes Brecht has been tapped by Solomun’s Diynamic Music to take the reins for the 10th edition of the label’s in-depth EP series, The Picture.
Previously headed up by acts like Innellea, Tunnelvisions, Adana Twins, and Moscoman, The Picture is touted as a mini-album and “a document in time,” which aims to give listeners an intimate window into an artist’s current creative output and vision over six original tracks.
A classically trained and professional musician, German virtuoso Johannes Brecht has toured with orchestras throughout the world but found his calling in the electronic music scene. Lending his talents to the clubland, he’s released records on labels like Poker Flat, Mule Musiq, Parquet Recordings, Kompakt, and more.
Pouring all of his musical know-how into this stunning release, Picture: Johannes Brecht is a masterclass in combining analogue and orchestral sounds for the dance floor. From the glossy house piano work on tracks like “No More” and “Higher Ground” to the synthetic growl of “Wealth” and the moving clarinet and vocal exchange on “Currency,” it’s a fully textured release full of thrill and consideration.
