Luke Slater Drops Token's 100th Release as Planetary Assault Systems
Legendary Belgian techno imprint Token celebrates 100 releases with an EP from Luke Slater as PAS.
Since 2007, Ghent record label Token has released some of techno’s most revered names, including Ø [Phase], Surgeon, Rødhåd, Mark Broom, Truncate, and Stanislav Tolkachev. Now the label is celebrating its 100th release with an artist who needs little introduction for almost any techno fan — Luke Slater.
The UK’s Luke Slater has been at the forefront of the global techno scene for over 25 years, both under his given name, and under his Planetary Assault Systems alias. As PAS, Slater has delivered a remix for Ø [Phase] in 2012 and a single in 2014 for Token, but Say It Loud will be his first solo EP on the imprint.
“Token has been an important part of modern techno, either representing established artists or introducing new talent,” Slater says. “Every techno performer has a Token record in the box.”
Slater hits all the right notes across the four-track Say It Loud EP, delivering a pummeling, hypnotic mixture of techno. “I made sure it kicked, made sure it was as good or better than what I expected, and made sure it represented PAS in the right way,” Slater says. “Had to be a bruiser for Token 100.”
Say It Loud is out now via Token Records. Check out the full EP below.
