It’s happening again. After being teased in Maceo Plex sets for the best part of a year, Maceo’s Ellum Audio label has finally released Raxon’s new version of “The Age Of Love.” Of course, the original “Age Of Love” is an era-defining record that needs absolutely no introduction. But despite its legendary status, Egyptian producer Raxon – best known for releases on Cocoon Recordings and a killer album on the Kompakt imprint – are a reminder that Raxon is a producer more than up to the challenge of reinterpreting records for classic and contemporary floors across the globe.

The Egyptian-born, Barcelona-based producer and DJ’s version follows the massive remix from Charlotte De Witte and looks set to cause just as much disco damage as Charlotte’s did on Beatport before it. Released today via Ellum, the digital version is currently a Beatport exclusive, which includes both the extended mix and instrumental mix.

As for the song itself: it’s six minutes of searing main room techno underpinned by robo-vocoder vocals and buzzing, bleeping synth work that will resonate from Berlin to Buenos Aires all summer long. “The original ‘Age Of Love’ has been remixed many times before, but I really wanted to tear up the rule book and approach it in a completely different way with my remake,” Raxon told us. “Thus we have something people don’t even really know where to put it genre-wise!”
