Los Angeles underground staple Nala has announced the launch of her new femme-dominated label, Mi Domina, with a devilish, acid-tinged three-track EP — produced alongside Miami-based DJ/producer E.R.N.E.S.T.O. — titled Get Familiar.
Nala’s imprint debut is the next in a string of exceptional releases this year from the Dirtybird favorite, such as her cool-to-the-core two-tracker with Beatport Next artist Nikki Nair, titled The World Is Always Ending, and her rip-roaring single with Ardalan, “Habits Die Hard,” on Pets Recordings.
The name Mi Domina, which translates to “dominate me” in Italian, is intended to pay homage to both the artist’s Italian heritage and femdom culture — communities where women are revered and designated to positions of power. Keeping the ideas of “talent, respect, and kindness” at the center of its ethos, Mi Domina aims empower artists who hold to these principles.
Bringing forward a potent combination of electro, acid, tech house, dark disco, and spoken-word dance music, Nala and E.R.N.E.S.T.O’s Get Familiar EP boots up with the scorning and gritty tune “God Complex” before jumping into the authoritative title-track “Get Familiar” (which comes paired with an Acid Mix).
