In the early ’90s, UK producer Chris Cowie launched two of the country’s most influential imprints — Hook Recordings and Bellboy Records. Both wound up heavily influencing trance, progressive and tech house producers from all over the world, including the nascent LA trance scene of that era, and DJs like Christopher Lawrence.

Under his Vegas Soul moniker, Cowie also released a number of singles, which were championed by DJs and tastemakers John Peel, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, and Danny Tenaglia.

Now Cowie is returning with a new four-track EP called Backflip. Released on his own Mootant Recordings, the EP sees Cowie channeling dancefloor ready tech house vibes on the title track and “Uppity,” while offering more melodic fair on “Affinity” and “Hydra.”
