Beatport, Ballantine’s and Community Bread Head Up an NYC Pride Livestream
Ballantine’s and their True Music platform continue their US underground scene coverage with Beatport, teaming up with Community Bread for a special Pride 2021 NYC livestream and showcase on Thursday, June 24th.
Beatport has teamed up with Ballantine’s Scotch whisky as a part of their True Music platform to present a series of livestreams that will focus on some of the most influential and up-and-coming artists, collectives, and spaces in three major US cities: New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Revered for highlighting local music scenes in cities across the world, the series marks Ballantine Scotch whisky and their True Music platform’s US debut as they travel to focus on these three major hubs of dance music in America.
After having hit all three cities with our first round of phenomenal performances, Beatport and Ballantines return to NYC for a special Pride 2021 livestream at Seret Studios in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Curated by the queer-owned collective & resource platform Community Bread, the event will be hosted by one of NYC’s iconic nightlight personalities & staunch LGBTQ+ activists, Xander Gaines, and feature performances from four of the city’s most ingenious LGBTQ+ acts — Jasmine Infiniti, quest?onmarq, SHYBOI, and The Carry Nation.
Tune in on Thursday, June 24th at 7PM CEST | 1PM EDT via Beatport’s Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube channels.
Check out our list of performers below!
quest?onmarq
As enigmatic as their namesake, quest?onmarq hails from the darkest corner of the NYC rave scene. A sonic chameleon, quest?onmarq commands submission over dance floors through their own hypnotic genre-fluid rave-ready productions and cataclysmic 3-deck DJ sets. They also hold monthly radio residencies on Rinse France & The Lot Radio.
Jasmine Infiniti
Jasmine Infiniti is a New York-based DJ and producer, who started her career in Oakland, CA. She’s affiliated with Club Chai, who released her EP SiS last year. She’s a longtime member of House of Infiniti and became the mother of its Bay Area chapter. In her sets, Jasmine blends dark and industrial sounds, ambient techno, breakbeat and beyond. Following her breakout EP, SiS, Jasmine Infiniti recently returned with 13 new disruptive club tracks fit for The Infernal Ballroom. On her meticulously crafted debut LP, she conjures occult rave incantations with sub-tectonic bass and spectral harmonies. She’s become a true community leader during these troubling times. She played the first CB but we think it’s essential she’s part of this initiative.
The Carry Nation
The Carry Nation is a DJ and production duo comprised of Will Automagic & Nita Aviance who have been bubbling into the helm of NYC’s underground over the last seven years. Nita (a noted member of the legendary House of Aviance of which Kevin Aviance is his house mother) and Will (a co-founder of notorious warehouse party SPANK) have toured the world playing everywhere from Glastonbury to Bargain. Together they bring their eclectic sounds of free-flowing house, techno, acid, and everything in between. They killed it for CB III and know they’ll do the same for this too.
SHYBOI
Shyboi is a Jamaican-born, NYC-based artist and DJ. Positioned between Caribbean and American culture, she uses sound to interrogate ideas of identity, notions of power, perceived histories, and their entanglement. She is also a member of queer artist collective #KUNQ whose ethos is centered around the production of multidimensional work to expand discourse surrounding how subcultures are diluted through hybridity. While selling out shows at MoMa PS1 and The Guggenheim, ShyBoi is also an incredibly powerful techno DJ. An unpredictable master of sonic soundscapes guaranteeing her dancers very little except a smile on their face and perhaps sore feet upon exiting.
