Exclusive: Vintage Culture and Maxi Jazz Collaborate on “Commotion”

Brazil’s global dance floor phenomenon and one of Beatport’s top-selling acts, Vintage Culture, has teamed up with Faithless co-founder and vocalist Maxi Jazz for an electrifying new single, “Commotion” — out now via SPINNIN’ Records.

This latest track from Vintage Culture is another remarkable addition to his 2022 output, following his “Amanhã” single on Cercle Records and his recent “Nightjar” collaboration with Sonny Fodera and Shells on Defected, which reached Beatport’s overall top spot back in February.

“The lyrical wizardry of Maxi Jazz has been an inspiration for many years,” says Vintage Culture. “Few artists can create such a vivid lyrical picture and simultaneously put these words to melody as Maxi. It is an honor to work with this legend on our new track ‘Commotion.'”

Maxi Jazz added: “These lyrics arrived in the middle of the night while I was pondering the difference between the world I grew up in and where we are today. Like most people, I’m more than a little concerned over the future for generations to come and the words took 20 minutes to write. They poured out of me like a tap. And they come from a place of love, not fear.”

Kicking off with a reeled-in breakbeat rhythm and gripping vocal arrangement from the iconic UK musician, Maxi Jazz’s intuitive lyrics tell the tale of isolation, toxic political discourse, defiance, and the discombobulated coloring of our modern world.
