Eliza Rose clocks in a sophisticated melange of jazz, soul, and UKG on her Business As Usual EP. The four-track affair acts as a sonic homecoming of sorts for both Rose and her imprint, returning them to their core musical influences.

“The EP as a whole is a true reflection of my two favorite sounds. I love mixing jazz and soul with UKG and I wanted to reflect that across a full EP,” says the Hackney-born vocalist and DJ. “This one was all about going back to the roots of my label, Rosebud Recordings. With the OG concept being around soul tracks with UKG remixes. So I loved taking this one back to my roots as a writer, producer, and singer!” Listen below.

Rose’s lithe vocals unfurl over the languid production of EP opener, “Business As Usual (9 - 5 mix),” produced alongside MJ Cole. Whereas the “(9 - 5 mix)” is a slow burn, its contrasting “night shift mix” is a spry gear shift into a more UKG-forward style that sets the tone for “Lovesome” and “Lost Your Love.” The former, a bonafide toe-tapper, sees Rose partner with Peaky Beats for a beat-focused effort that melts into “Lost Your Love.” The EP’s finale, an elegant demonstration of Rose’s vocal showmanship, came to life in partnership with West London-based DJ/producer, Kylin Tyce.

The Business As Usual EP is out now via Rosebud Recordings/One House. Buy it on Beatport.
