Anti Up Furnish First New Music in Nearly Two Years with ‘Control The Media / The Weekend’
Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo jumpstart the rollout of their debut LP ahead of their Coachella double-header.

In May of 2022, Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo set the Beatport chart ablaze with the incendiary, chantable “Chromatic.” The single—their sole output that year—claimed Beatport’s overall top spot. Then, Anti Up went dark.
With “Control The Media / The Weekend,” the twosome strikes a match that illuminates two truths. One, this is the start of much more music to come, and two, after nearly two full years of rest from dance/electronic’s release ring, Anti Up can still bang on dancefloors with a fury. That last part will prove to be a self-fulfilling prophecy in the sweltering heat of California’s Indio Valley, where the duo will do double duty, playing both weekends of the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. “We’ll be closing one of the tents–that’s all I can say right now,” Lake said on X.
The double-tracker juxtaposes the techy, crunchy hypnosis of “Control The Media” with the hedonism of escapist anthem, “The Weekend.” Together, they train the limelight on Lake and Lorenzo, who, according to the former, have finished their debut LP—“a pure passion project through and through.”
“We’ve been working on an album of material for literally years now. We’re constantly working on various bits, but finally we’re ready to show the world what we’ve got and what we’ve done,” Lake said. Predictably, it’ll be worth watching.
