White Spirit Follows Genesis With “Nemesis”, Three Tracks of Controlled Chaos
After Genesis took “Never Nice” past half a million Spotify streams, the Netherlands-based producer’s new Systolic EP runs from Brazilian funk to warehouse darkness, with DROPFIRST on board.

Genesis didn’t give White Spirit much room to relax. His first EP on Systolic Records came out in January, its title track spent three months inside Beatport’s Top 100, and “Never Nice” held a Top 15 spot for more than three months before going past half a million streams on Spotify. The follow-up had to start from a harder question than the debut: “What does my audience want to hear from me next, without me losing my identity in the process?”
Nemesis, out September 24 on Systolic, is how he answered it. The producer, who has spent more than a decade in the underground techno scene, has always mixed old-school Schranz elements with modern production while leaving space for a melody, and he frames this EP as the second half of a pair. “If Genesis was the beginning, Nemesis is the confrontation with everything that came after it,” he says. After watching how the Schranz crowd took to the first record, he felt the next step “had to be something bigger, more intense, and more complete.”
“The concept is rooted in what I believe Schranz represents: controlled chaos,” he says. “It is not supposed to be gentle or predictable.”
Rather than stretch one sound across three tracks, he split them. “A Dança Do Brasil” pulls Brazilian funk into Schranz and brings a different rhythmic energy with it. “Rock It Steady”, made with fellow Systolic artist DROPFIRST, is the darkest cut on the record, built for warehouse rooms. “F*ck Up The Club” closes on a more emotional note while keeping the raw energy that runs through the rest, and that spread is on purpose. “Schranz doesn’t have to follow one formula,” he says. “It can be intense, experimental, emotional, and still remain true to its identity.”
Nemesis follows Fall Der Moral in May and Wieder Verloren in June, and White Spirit now counts more than 80,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. You can listen to "Nemesis" out now everywhere.
