Deep in the Night with TOMY: The Making of NOCTIS
The Andalusian producer steps up with his debut LP on Etiqueta Negra, blending pure UKG heritage with the heavy-hitting ethos of the 83 family.

Landing via Etiqueta Negra—the forward-thinking sibling to 83, the powerhouse imprint that has long dominated the global breakbeat map—the record feels entirely in its element. While 83 built its legacy on heavy-hitting breaks, Etiqueta Negra was created as a home for forward-facing UKG and bass music, balancing established artists with the fresh energy driving the underground forward.
NOCTIS doesn't arrive out of nowhere. The LP functions as both a milestone and a consolidation of tracks that have already found their way into DJ sets across Spain, while also catching the attention of heavyweights like Maya Jane Coles and Laurent Garnier. Alongside those established weapons, TOMY drops four unreleased cuts—the title track, "Ymfsg," "Step Up," and "Euphoria"—that push the record's scope even further.
At its core, the album is tied to the hours after dark. "I’ve always felt that perception completely shifts during the night," TOMY explains. "There’s more introspection, more freedom, and ultimately, more space to create. Noctis refers precisely to that—that nocturnal world where a huge part of this sound and these ideas were conceived."
Rather than feeling like a loose collection of singles, TOMY treats NOCTIS as a complete body of work. The production is rooted in UK Garage history, but never feels trapped by it, leaning instead on deep listening, intricate percussion, and late-night studio trial-and-error. It’s a project built to be absorbed in full, proving that TOMY isn’t just chasing a fleeting trend—he’s building a lasting signature.
