Hype Label of the Month: Traful

Traful is Beatport’s Hype Label of the Month, and the Argentine imprint has spent the past five years stretching progressive house well beyond its usual borders. Launched in 2021 by Mayro alongside Federico Nussbaumer and Juan Carlos Ivancevic, Traful runs on a pretty simple idea: make music without too many rules. Progressive house is the backbone, but trance, techno, electro, and straight-up house regularly bleed into the edges.

Traful likes its records built for the dance floor, with enough personality to stick in patrons' minds long after they’ve left. Releases from T.N.C., Taylan, Lucho, Neuralis, Andrea Cassino, Brian Creao, and more move between hypnotic rollers, darker late-night cuts, big melodic swings, and the occasional burst of trancey euphoria. Its ongoing Developments series has also become a useful entry point for newer names, with the latest edition pulling together artists from Argentina, New Zealand, Mexico, and beyond.

The next batch keeps that international streak going, with music coming from Brazil’s Mind Echoes, Argentina’s XAVI ST, India’s Influence, and Mayro himself.

Below, Mayro digs into Traful’s origins, the records that best explain its sound, and where the label is heading next.
