The 11-track record turns his years-long fight with procrastination into its central idea.

Kyle Watson gave himself 18 weeks to make an album. No extensions, no “next month,” no chance to hide behind the phrase that gave the record its name.

Out today on his No Context Records imprint, Ask Me Tomorrow is Watson’s second album and his first since his 2018 debut LP Into the Morning. The record came out of a problem he, and many of us, know all too well: procrastination. A hard deadline forced him to stop tinkering, make decisions quickly and trust whatever felt right in the room.

The album moves from the punchy percussion of “Keep Control” and the dirty, descending bassline of “Load Up” to warmer cuts like “Bones” and “To The Start.” Watson’s hefty low end holds the whole thing together, while Body Ocean, Walker & Royce, Will Clarke, Kosmo Kint, Scrufizzer, Ed Graves, Bobbi Fallon and MAY BBY appear throughout.

“Eighteen weeks in the making, was it worth it?” Watson says. “I think so… ask me tomorrow.”
