Jon Hopkins x Las Vegas Sphere

Jon Hopkins is writing original music for Oprah Winfrey’s first Sphere experience. Oprah Winfrey's AHA will stage four shows in Las Vegas from April 2-4, 2027, combining music, poetry, storytelling and visual art.

Famed British composer Max Richter will serve as AHA’s musical director, with Jason White leading the choir and Es Devlin contributing original art. Winfrey conceived the project after seeing U2’s opening night at Sphere and began thinking of the venue as something more than a concert hall.

A celebrated electronic artist, Hopkins is also an accomplished composer. This year, he and Biggi Hilmars released their score for the environmental documentary Wilding. During Refugee Week back in June, he teamed up with Brian Eno to create a generative score for Choose Love – an installation pairing music with 60 refugee-created artworks.

That work has not pulled Hopkins away from the dance floor. He appeared on the track "Satellite" from HAAi’s album HUMANiSE. More recently, he joined longtime friend Imogen Heap for "Reckoning" released in July. Heap calls it her first “dance” track, while the song marks the pair’s first-ever collaboration after nearly 30 years of friendship. HAAi also brought some “additional magic” to the recording.

Electronic acts are now an integral part of the Sphere experience, from Anyma's The End of Genesys residency to Insomniac and Tomorrowland’s UNITY series and ILLENIUM’s ODYSSEY. Hopkins’ involvement in AHA carries that language beyond the traditional concert format.
