SØNIN’s ‘Chasing The First Light’ EP Is Out Now on Enhanced Progressive
Out Friday 28th Aug.

Enhanced Progressive presents ‘Chasing The First Light’, the new EP from Helsinki producer SØNIN. Across four tracks SØNIN brings together emotive melodies, detailed production and driving progressive rhythms, continuing to develop the sound that has earned him a growing following across the trance music scene.
At the centre of the release is ‘Sirocco’, a collaboration with Dutch trance mainstay Leon Bolier. Built around SØNIN’s precise production and Bolier’s trance sensibilities, the track brings together driving percussion, layered synths and a strong melodic progression.
The collaboration is the result of a creative relationship that began several years ago. SØNIN first met Bolier during the pandemic at Paavo Siljamäki’s studio, and the pair have continued working together ever since. Their process often begins with SØNIN sending over early musical ideas, with Bolier then helping shape the arrangements before the two producers bounce ideas back and forth until the track takes its final form.
Leon Bolier played a significant role in the resurgence of Dutch trance during the 2000s, building an extensive catalogue of productions and remixes while performing extensively around the world. His work has consistently moved between trance, progressive and more experimental electronic territory, with albums including ‘Pictures’ and ‘Phantasma’ showcasing his breadth as a producer.
The EP opens with ‘Next To You’, pairing subtle details with a steady progressive groove, before moving into the more emotive ‘Dreamin'. SØNIN then joins forces with flowanastasia for ‘Tell Me Again’, bringing a warm vocal presence to the project, while ‘Sirocco’ closes the release with its collaboration with Leon Bolier.
Throughout ‘Chasing The First Light’, SØNIN draws on the contrast that has long shaped his musical identity. Growing up in Helsinki, the city’s long winters and fleeting summer light have naturally found their way into his productions, resulting in music that can move from melancholic and restrained to uplifting and full of energy.
For SØNIN the EP is also a snapshot of a particularly active period of his life. Written between 2025 and 2026, the four tracks began life at different points during his travels and time on the road. Several were played live as early demos before being taken back into the studio, developed further and tested again in front of audiences.
In that sense ‘Chasing The First Light’ became something of a musical diary - shaped not only by time spent in the studio, but by the parties, shows and experiences that surrounded the tracks as they developed.
The release arrives following a strong run for SØNIN, who has now surpassed 20 million DSP streams and secured a Beatport Trance #1. His catalogue includes collaborations with Yotto on ‘Hear Me Out’ and ‘Nothing Like You’, alongside releases on Enhanced Progressive, Anjunabeats and Diynamic Music. His music has also received support from artists including Above & Beyond and Solomun.
‘Chasing The First Light’ brings these different influences together across four carefully crafted productions, marking another step forward for SØNIN as he continues to shape his place within trance music.
