First Look: Inside Magazine Open---Air as London’s New Riverside Dancefloor Opens Today [Photo Gallery]

Ahead of tonight's opening, Beatportal has been given an exclusive first look inside the new space, with our photo gallery offering a glimpse of the stage, production and riverside setting ahead of the first crowds arriving for Our House.

The inaugural event brings the spirit of Ibiza to London with Meduza and James Hype, kicking off a six-show programme spread across two weekends at Magazine London.

The location itself is central to the concept. Rather than placing an outdoor stage against a conventional festival backdrop, Magazine Open---Air has been built around the surrounding city, with the Thames and London skyline visible from the dancefloor. Running from afternoon into dusk, the setting will evolve throughout each event as daylight fades and the city lights come into view.

The roofless stage was developed in collaboration with Paris-based spatial design studio Matière Noire, whose previous work includes projects for Dekmantel, Keinemusik at Berlin's Tempelhof and Drumsheds Room Y. Created specifically for Greenwich Peninsula, the structure places the audience directly within the surrounding landscape.

Following today's opening, the programme continues with Josh Baker b2b Max Dean, 15 Years: The Soulection Experience, Amelie Lens b2b Sara Landry, Purple Disco Machine, and a closing RNB & Slow Jams event. Together, the six shows span different corners of contemporary club culture while making the most of the unusual riverside location.
