Every record has a story behind it. This week, those stories stretch across decades, cities and defining moments - from rediscovered classics and lifelong inspirations to projects years in the making. Together, they remind us that the records we connect with most often carry something far deeper than music itself.

There are songs so deeply ingrained that you don't need to hear them - you remember them. That's exactly how Ilan Bluestone approached his reimagining of Duran Duran's “Save A Prayer”, rebuilding the beloved '80s classic from the ground up while staying remarkably faithful to the feeling that made it endure in the first place. With Gid Sedgwick's warm, era-evoking vocals leading the way and Ilan's unmistakable melodic touch unfolding around it, the track becomes less a cover and more a conversation between two generations of music.

From the very beginning, I knew Gid had to be the voice on this record. There's something about the tone and character of his voice that instantly takes me back to the early '80s. To me, there was no one else who could have brought this version to life in the same way.

”Save A Prayer” came from Ilan's and my shared love of '80s music. We wanted to honour the emotion and character of the original while bringing it into our own world. I focused on keeping the spirit of Simon Le Bon's delivery intact, and it was amazing hearing Ilan begin road-testing the track at major festivals.

Nearly a decade in the making, ‘The Book of Life: Chapters I–II’ finally begins to unfold, with “Solo” offering the first glimpse into Eco's most ambitious work to date. Built around delicate piano lines, deep progressive grooves and spacious ambient textures, the track unfolds with the same patience that shaped the album itself, never hurrying its ideas or demanding attention. Written during long nights on the New York City subway in 2020, “Solo” carries the feeling of a city still awake after midnight - restless, reflective and suspended somewhere between movement and stillness.

Some tracks become classics because they top the charts. Others because they quietly changed someone's life. For Richard Durand, “Sunrise” was one of those records. Years after André Visior & Kay Stone's uplifting anthem first became a favourite among trance fans, Richard now returns to it with a heartfelt rework that preserves its unmistakable emotion while bringing its soaring melodies and timeless energy into a new era. Released on In Trance We Trust, it's the kind of uplifting trance record that reminds you why the genre continues to resonate so deeply.

At that time, I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue making music. This track, together with 'Beyond This Earth' by Signum, became a turning point for me. They reminded me how powerful and beautiful music can be, and how the music I create can also mean something to other people.

The first thing that stands out about Hold Me Now isn't the groove—it's the warmth. Mhammed El Alami and HKL place organic instrumentation at the centre of the record, allowing acoustic textures to shape its identity, with subtle progressive elements gently carrying everything forward. Rather than competing for attention, each element is given room to breathe, creating a natural flow that feels effortless from beginning to end. Together, those elements allow the organic and electronic worlds to meet on equal terms, creating a sound that feels both natural and sincere.
