RUMTUM makes his international debut on Anjunachill with EP ‘In a Forest'
Producer and Multi-instrumentalist John Hastings aka RUMTUM delivers latest project created as a space for escapism, grounding, and connection through music.

Visionary downtempo maestro RUMTUM, whose mesmerizing beats and experimental soundscapes are a fusion of world instrument inspirations and echoes of icons like Nosaj Thing, Boards of Canada, and Four Tet dives into the inspirations and production behind his latest body of work.
In a Forest was created as a space for escapism, grounding, and connection through music. Inspired by late 90s and early 2000s experimental electronic music, the EP blends loose grooves, organic textures, vintage samplers, modular synthesis, and imperfect human moments. Rather than over-processing the tracks, I wanted to preserve the natural character and flaws of the instruments themselves. The project is centered around the feeling of finding a hidden clearing in the woods, a safe place to disconnect from pressure, reconnect with nature, and fully lose yourself in sound.
From the earliest days of piecing together a makeshift drum set to buying his first drum machine, all music gear evoked a deep connection and passion for recording and mixing music. Currently residing in Denver, Colorado, RUMTUM is a lifelong student of electronic music and embraces experimental recording techniques and cross-genre composition, all while seeking higher consciousness in his musical journey.
RUMTUM ‘ In A Forest EP’ is out now on Anjunachill.
