Ascending the Soundscape: Antiopë Pushes Dancefloor Boundaries with ‘High’
Electronic music often thrives on happy accidents and shifting perspectives.
For French producer Antiopë, a routine wellness session became the exact catalyst for his most club centric release to date. His new single, "High," blends the hypnotic depth of Melodic Techno with a raw techno drive, delivering a profound message about pushing personal boundaries and taking complete control of your own future.
The track found its heartbeat on a small island near Australia during a musical meditation. While the instructor chanted breathing cues, the producer misheard the words, altering the direction of his session. "The guide repeated on a loop 'Inhale, hold, exhale, and rest.' But when sampling and listening, I heard 'High, hold, higher,' which inspired this idea," Antiopë reveals. This vocal loop became the primary theme of the song. Despite being recorded from a distance on an iPhone microphone, the artist successfully integrated the raw audio into a heavy arrangement powered by Ableton Live, Diva, and Serum.
Musically, the release captures a massive peak time energy reminiscent of Innellea. It features a bold arrangement choice where the arrangement completely slows down right before building back up. "I even tried new things, like slowing down the BPM to the maximum just before the build-up, which gives an impression of 'everything is going to stop, it is over,' before it restarts even stronger," the producer explains. The High single stands as a celebratory milestone that captures a unique musical vision within the electronic scene.
